A Thousand Boy Kisses by Tillie Cole REVIEW

One kiss lasts a moment.

But a thousand kisses can last a lifetime.

One boy.

One girl.

A bond that is forged in an instant and cherished for a decade.

A bond that neither time nor distance can break.

A bond that will last forever.

Or so they believe.

When seventeen-year-old Rune Kristiansen returns from his native Norway to the sleepy town of Blossom Grove, Georgia, where he befriended Poppy Litchfield as a child, he has just one thing on his mind. Why did the girl who was one half of his soul, who promised to wait faithfully for his return, cut him off without a word of explanation?

Rune’s heart was broken two years ago when Poppy fell silent. When he discovers the truth, he finds that the greatest heartache is yet to come.

For ages 14 and up.

A Thousand Boy Kisses is a really sweet story about two childhood friends who are meant to be. Poppy and Rune meet when they are just five years old and have a beautiful and tender relationship.

When Poppy is eight years old, her grandmother gives her a jar full of plain pink hearts, and tells her to record all her boy kisses, but only the special ones, the ones that make her heart almost burst.

Poppy knows that Rune is the only boy she ever wants to kiss, and so she goes about filling that jar with some very special moments.

I loved the first part of the book when Rune first arrives in America from Norway feeling angry that he has been taken away from his home, and then meeting his next door neighbour, the sweet and adorable Poppy. I even loved it when Rune turned bad boy for a little bit, albeit only a short while.

The plot twist does come quite early on in the book, and had I known it was going to go in that direction, I’ll be honest and say I probably wouldn’t have picked it up willingly. For this reason, I disconnected myself from the story a little, and didn’t feel the huge emotional tug that a lot of readers are raving about. Poppy made a lot of decisions that I didn’t quite understand and I was left feeling a bit confused at the lack of communication at times.

Overall, I liked it and thought that the love between the two was super cute, but a bit cheesy for my preference.

A Thousand Boy Kisses is a Young Adult Romance, told in dual POV

Tillie Cole

Tillie Cole is a Northern girl through and through. She originates from a place called Teesside on that little but awesomely sunny (okay I exaggerate) Isle called Great Britain. She was brought up surrounded by her English rose mother — a farmer’s daughter, her crazy Scottish father, a savagely sarcastic sister and a multitude of rescue animals and horses.
