I enjoyed this one, it was a great for a quick Saturday afternoon read.
It starts off with Tina who is struggling to make her marriage to Nick work under an enormous stress after the death of a loved one. She decides that she can’t be the only one to fight for her relationship any longer so makes the decision to file for divorce.
Two years later, she finds herself assigned as a Paramedic working at the same station house that Nick is a fire fighter at. This makes things a bit awkward but they decide not to tell anyone that they were once married and try and be professional about their work situation as best they can.
Trouble is, the chemistry between them is still hot and Tina starts to see the old Nick shining through and they once again struggle with their feelings towards one another.
“For a moment, no matter how brief, my Nick’s back and he’s loving me like he would have before everything went to shit.
And for this brief moment, I’m going to live here and only here.”

What I liked most about this story was the chemistry, there were some fabulous steamy moments and I was rooting for them to get back together.
Nick was obviously struggling with his grief and Tina bailed on him when he needed her most, and I would have loved for that to be expanded on. He and Tina never really discussed the reasons why he couldn’t be intimate or feel like he couldn’t lean on her in the wake of his best friends death, and I really missed that emotional connection in this story.
Still, I enjoyed it and would be happy to read other books by this author.
Told in dual POV, this is a standalone, quick and easy read.
