I love friends to lovers stories but what I love more is when those friends have known each other their whole lives, this is a story of young love, misunderstandings and guilt.

The story starts with Charlotte at 15 years old being prepped for surgery to remove a Brain Tumour. With her family by her side, along with her life long friends the Jackson boys. Nick also 15 is her best friend, but Nate who is 17 is the boy she sees herself spending the rest of her life with.

“Charlotte was meant to be mine. I knew it when she was born. Nick is her brother, but I’m her protector. I’ve let her down this time, but never again.”

Following the surgery Charlotte is weak and finding her usual day to day life difficult, with the help of the boys she hides this from her parents. But it’s only a matter of time before they find out and decide its best to take Charlotte to Switzerland for relaxation and intense treatment.

The young couple find this hard to deal with, being apart isn’t something their used to. Plus Nate has made a life changing decision to join the Navy and finding the right time to tell Charlotte is proving difficult.

With every teenage romance comes drama and jealousy. Nate learns the hard way how spiteful teenage girls can be when a party changes everything.

We’re then taken ahead 9 years.

Nate’s still in the Navy and Charlotte has her own business helping sportsmen settle into their new lives as pro ball players. The pair haven’t had much contact over the years, Nick has been the middle man keeping the them in the loop on each other’s lives, the lives their living feeling far from complete without each other.

This is where I got so frustrated, Nate finally has a wake up call after a mission gone wrong and decided it’s time to bite the bullet and get the girl. For me Charlotte was a little too forgiving but at the same time I could feel how strong their love for each was. I am a sucker for a happy ending but I think I wanted a little more drama, a little more grovelling from Nate and a little more fight from Charlotte.

Saying that I did enjoy the story which kept me reading late into the night.

I’m also looking forward to reading more about playboy Nick.
