Book Blurb
When Tabitha and her best friend Leslie were young, they made a pact to never get involved with the same guy. That wasn’t a problem for Tabitha, especially as far as Leo Pesciano was concerned. Tabitha hated the guy. It didn’t matter that he was good looking and all of the other girls drooled over him, and Leslie had a big crush on him. He was obnoxious and loved to rile Tabitha up; but when she is faced with life-altering challenges, Leo becomes her protector and her friend. There is a strong chemistry between them that Tabitha tries very hard to ignore, but Leo doesn’t make it easy. After an explosive end to their friendship during their college years, more than nine years later they are reunited and Tabitha is again resistant to the attraction she feels to Leo. Time, distance, and new lives have come between Leslie and Tabitha over the years, and they rarely speak or see each other, but Tabitha holds strong to the girl code they created when they were children. Her loyalty to her old friend is admirable, but will this same loyalty destroy her chances of a happily ever after?

My Review
I really enjoyed reading this one, LD Davis is the queen of Angst and I love her writing voice.

Tabby is the nerdy girl at school, she has a best friend called Leslie and they have a code – Under no circumstances are they to engage in a physical or romantic relationship with each other’s exes or love interests.

When they first meet Leo, Tabby isn’t worried that Leslie calls dibs on him because she thinks he’s an arrogant douche.

Leo ends up dating her best friend, but they also become close friends and get even closer when he saves her from a bad situation at a party. They soon figure out that they have intense chemistry but there is no way in hell Tabby would violate the girl code, she values her best friend and with her inattentive parents, she appreciates the support that Leslie gives her.

When Tabby and Leslie leave for different colleges, she not only has to say good bye to her BFF but also to Leo, who has become her second best friend. Talk about breaking hearts, I was literally gutted by this point but hey, gotta stick to the girl code.

After years apart, Leo is determined to get the girl he wants.

This book was hard to put down, I loved the push and pull and I loved the chemistry. I have some rants though and that was the fucking ‘Girl Code’ which got in the way of these two. Tabby and Leslie didn’t really have a relationship after high school, they drifted apart and Leslie was a bit of a bitch to be honest so I don’t know why Tabby was so hung up on it.

Then we discover that Leo has been hiding a big secret from Tabby and it was quite a whopper, I thought she forgave that omission of truth far too easily.

Although this book made me want to throw my kindle at the wall, I thoroughly enjoyed reading it so 4 stars it is.

Note: There are appearances from characters in LD Davis previous books, but this is totally a stand alone story and is told in parallel to the others.
