King by T.M. Frazier REVIEW

Homeless, hungry and desperate enough to steal, Doe has no memories of who she is or where she comes from.

A notorious career criminal just released from prison, King is someone you don’t want to cross unless you’re prepared to pay him back in blood, sweat, pu$$y or a combination of all three.

King’s future hangs in the balance. Doe’s is written in her past. When they come crashing together, they will have to learn that sometimes in order to hold on, you have to first let go.
Warning: This book contains graphic violence, consensual and nonconsensual sex, drug use, abuse, and other taboo subjects and adult subject matter. Although originally slated to be a standalone, KING is now a two part series.

★★★★ 4.5 Stars ★★★★

This is a spoiler free review, so I am not going to rehash the story for you but I am going to tell you about the amazing and awesome people in this story that I am still thinking about days later. I love flawed and complex characters, especially when they are dark and dangerous and you know that deep down there is a beautiful heart inside that stone exterior that is just bursting to come out. Doe is the girl that brings 3 men alive again in different ways.

Doe is a missing person, she was found in an alley, bloodied and with no memory. She was thrown into foster care but has recently left to live on the streets. It is now when she is at her lowest that she meets King, Preppy & Bear. Once the initial fear of these intimidating men wears off, she feels confusingly safe when she finds herself captive in King’s lair and becomes the woman who will peel back the layers of Brantley King.

King is fresh out of prison, he is a tattoo artist by night and an outlaw criminal by day. He is a beautifully intense anti-hero and is drawn to the blond haired, petite feisty female who was trying to sell her soul to the devil in exchange for protection and food.

Preppy is King’s best friend and business partner, they have known each other since King rescued Preppy from his childhood bullies and they are the only family each other have. Preppy has a penchant for bow ties and murder, and he takes it upon himself to become Doe’s new friend and big brother.

Bear is the VP of the Beach Bastards MC and has been hanging around with King & Preppy since they were fifteen, he is willing to take Doe as his old lady if King doesn’t claim her, and he is as protective as he is fierce. He has always wanted King and Preppy to join him and his MC brothers but is content with working closely with them in mutually beneficial business deals and he always has their back.

I loved the mystery behind both Doe and King, Doe is struggling to move forward with her life knowing that she has left one behind that she can’t remember and King is also hiding the initial reason that he decided he wanted to keep Doe, he needs her for something, and that something happens to be very important to him.

This book had me turning the pages, it was suspenseful and you absolutely did not see the twists coming. It was dark, but also sweet, funny, angsty and heartbreaking all at the same time. The cliffhanger was agonising, but thankfully it’s only a two month wait until the final instalment, Tyrant hits my kindle. In the meantime, I know without a doubt I will not forget these fucking awesome characters.

This is part one of a duet, told in dual POV.
