The Education of Sebastian

Trapped in a loveless marriage, thirty year old Caroline Wilson moves to San Diego after her military husband earns a promotion. Feeling lost and alone Caroline strikes up a friendship with young local surfer Sebastian Hunter.

Sebastian has more than friendship on his mind when he runs into Caroline on the beach. But when sparks fly friendship turns into an illicit love that threatens them both.

The Education of Caroline

Now a successful journalist, Caroline heads out to report from the front lines of the war in Afghanistan. Love is the last thing on her mind when she crosses paths with Chief Sebastian Hunter.

Will this chance encounter reignite the erotic passion of their past?

Let me start by saying that it’s time for me to hold my hands up and admit defeat, because for the last 15 months I’ve been putting this series off. My book buddies have been on at me to read it, but I’ve dug my heels in all this time because I’m not a big fan of the older woman, younger man, but from the very first page I knew it had me, hook line and sinker. This is a heart wrenching, butterflies in your tummy, beautiful story.

Caroline married David at 19, she saw it as a way to escape her mother. Hoping that one day she would fall in love with him. As the years go by living with a man you don’t really like, never mind love, becomes too much.

Sebastian is a Military brat. Brought up with an arsehole father and a mother who prefers looking at the bottom of a bottle than spending time with her son. At the age of 8 Sebastian finds comfort in the form of Caroline, a 21 year old navy wife who shows him the brighter side of childhood.

Nine years later David is posted back in San Diego and Caroline & Sebastian are reunited, but this time the platonic friendship is a thing of the past. Lust and sexual tension is rife but Sebastian is still only 17 making any relations between them illegal.

I fell hard for Sebastian, he was such a beautiful person inside and out. You could feel the love he had for Caroline growing with every stolen moment these two managed to share, and with the decision made to escape together when Sebastian turns 18, they start to plan for their future together.

But with every story comes the drama, jealousy and hate, and when the couples secrecy is revealed it has heartbreaking circumstances.

Book 2 in the series starts 10 years on. Caroline has finally achieved her dream traveling the world as a journalist, while Sebastian is a translator in the marines. No contact has been made between the two of them since that horrible day that changed the course of their lives, so when attending a seminar in preparation for her next assignment, Caroline couldn’t be more shocked when in walks the man she loved and lost. But time and life has changed them both, and this reunion is anything but heartfelt, and so the roller coaster of emotions start to spiral out of control. How do you try to hate the one person that made you feel, how do you trust them not to walk away again and how do stop yourself from hurting them with words of anger. The question is, Is their love strong enough to take on what fate has planned for them?

I honestly don’t know how Jane Harvey-Berrick does what she does, because every book she writes has me so consumed in the story and makes me feel every emotion right along side the characters. She’s a instant buy for me and if you haven’t picked up one of her books yet I highly recommend you do. You won’t be disappointed.

About the Author

I lived in London for over 10 years and have a love affair with New York. It’s only since I have moved to the countryside, that the words have really begun to flow. I live in a small village by the ocean and walk my little dog, Pip, every day. It’s on those beachside walks that I have all my best ideas. Writing has become a way of life – and one that I love to share.
