I couldn’t devise a top 10, it was virtually impossible so I decided to go with the books that made me feel the most. I will always remember what I was doing or how I felt whilst reading these ones so for me they will be my 12 most special reads of 2014, and I wanted to give a few special mentions.
Outlander, thanks to the TV series and all the fantastic Goodreads status updates flooding my feed, my curiosity was peaked and I decided to challenge myself to read this humongous book. A beautiful love story that I would never have picked up, due to it’s sheer length and the fact that I have shied away from historical romances lately, I am glad that didn’t miss out on what turned out to be a wonderful and complex journey to the Scottish highlands and one of the most intense love affairs I have ever read about.
Alessandra Torre has featured a lot this year, I included book 3 in the Innocence trilogy but really I loved this whole series and along with Black Lies, I am glad I discovered what a fabulous kinky author she really is. I was also lucky enough to win a signed copy of Black Lies and have fond memories of discovering this at Gatwick airport whilst waiting for my flight to Poland after her request to post pictures of sexy hair pulling for preparation for her new book.
I remember crying like a baby to Puddle Jumping, reading Made and loving every single word (this entry into my top 12 does include the rest of the series, absolutely fabulous) and waking up Christmas morning to discover I’d won an eARC of The Pact, by Karina Halle who is one of my absolute fave authors who I was lucky to meet at the Edinburgh Author event in July.
My favourite MM book of the year, rock by Anyta Sunday restored my love of gay romance when I was feeling a bit meh with some of the MM books I had read this year.
