I don’t read many historical romances myself, but this one has certainly caught my eye. My book bestie Sammy read this and wrote a lovely review. If you like to be transported back in time, this may be up your street.
My resurrection, they call it.
They have no bloody idea.
Shipwrecked and lost, left for dead,
Abandoned by my own family.
Drugged and addicted.
My wife saved me, brought me home.
I didn’t even know I had a wife—can I trust her?
I know I want her.
We are two of a kind—the manipulated, the tossed off, the rejected.
Bitter disappointments, painful secrets, age-old jealousies are my new shipwreck,
and my wife my new opium.
Is satisfaction to be found in revenge or revenge in satisfaction?
One thing I do know, without each other we’re both doomed.
A sensual 18th century tale of deception, revenge, and the hunger for love and absolution.
This isn’t my normal read, it’s been years since I’ve read a Historical Romance, but after reading Cat Porter’s other book and loving it, I knew I had to give this a go.
This is a story that proves drama, deceit and family deception doesn’t just happen in this day and age.
Brandon Treharne has spent the last 2 years sedated in hospital, after a shipwreck caused by a violent storm on his way back home from Jamaica. Life as he once knew it cease to exist, the only family he has left have betrayed him, he has a wife he has no recollection of marrying and the once flourishing Wolfsgate family Estate has been brought down to almost nothing.
All Justine ever wanted was a loving family. After her father died her mother married into the Treharne family. The last place Justine ever thought she’d be was married to her Step cousin, tangled up in a storm of blackmail, hate and greed.
Brandon and Justine have grown up together and the bond between them is strong. A relationship that starts as friendship turns into a great beautiful Love.
The story is full of twists and turns and it proves you really can’t trust anyone although they are defiantly a couple that have each other’s backs.
So if your looking for something a little different with some hot sex scenes and a strong minded female lead, Wolfsgate could be just the book you need.
